Pillow care
How to clean your Woolshire pillow
Short version: you rarely need to wash it. Here's the everyday care, and what to do after an accident.
- Day to day
- Keep a pillowcase on it
- Small spills
- Spot clean
- Accidents
- Gentle machine wash
- Drying
- Hang or lay flat
Most of the time, spot clean
Wool doesn't need to be washed like a regular pillow. It wicks moisture away instead of holding on to it, so the fill stays fresh far longer than a synthetic one.
For a small spill, dab the spot with cold water and a little wool-safe detergent, then let it air dry.
Use a pillowcase
Keep a pillowcase on your pillow and wash the case with your sheets. The case takes the daily wear so the pillow doesn't have to.
After an accident, machine wash
If something soaks in, like a sick kid or a big spill, your Woolshire pillow can go in the washing machine. Here's how.
- Wash it with a full load of laundry. This part is necessary: a full load keeps the pillow from getting tossed around.
- Use the delicate cycle, with low heat or no heat.
- Use a wool-safe or natural detergent if you have one.
- Reshape the pillow by hand if anything shifted. It shouldn't.
- Hang it up or lay it flat to dry.
Keep it out of the dryer, and let it dry all the way through before it goes back on your bed.
