Description

The Woolshire pillow is a Standard or Queen (20" × 30") wool pillow with an organic cotton inner case. Handmade in northern Idaho from virgin wool sourced from ranchers across the western US, cleaned and carded without chemicals.

The carding process stretches the wool fiber into batts. That's what keeps our pillows from clumping like loose-fill wool does. The cotton inner case is long-staple organic cotton from Texas family farms. It's undyed, with no pesticides or additives.

Wool is naturally hypoallergenic, mold-resistant, and temperature-regulating. Cool in summer, warm in winter, breathable year-round.

A note on settling: because there are no chemicals in our wool, the batting will compress slightly during the first six months of regular use. Sleep on different parts of the pillow, flip it occasionally, and fluff by hand to keep it even. If you prefer high loft, the Extra Full option uses compressed wool to resist settling.

Care Instructions

Wool pillows almost never need a full wash. A clean pillowcase, the occasional spot clean, and a sunny afternoon every few months handle most of it.

Spot clean with cold water and a wool-safe detergent.

Sun-air the whole pillow every month or two to freshen it.

Hand-fluff daily to maintain loft.

Never machine wash and never tumble dry. Both cause felting.

For a full wash or deep cleaning, follow our complete guide: How to Wash a Wool Pillow.

Sleep As Nature Intended

Natural Virgin Wool

Woolshire pillows were built as nature into them. When you lay on wool you are connecting your sleep to nature. They have no chemical gases, unlike memory foam and polyfill pillows.

Our pillows trace their roots back to how our ancestors slept. In a world of cheap, mass-produced, and synthetically made products, the Woolshire Pillow is a champion of a bygone era, a champion of quality. At The Woolshire we reject the plastic mindset, no chemical baths, no micro-plastic shedding, fashioned and crafted by a family of artisans.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL & MOISTURE RESISTANT

Wool naturally regulates body temperature. During the summer months, it vents heat and in the winter, it will keep you nice and cozy.

Wool pillows are also naturally moisture-wicking, which makes them more resistant to the accumulation of mildew and dust mites. As a result, our wool pillows are naturally hypoallergenic and perfect for humid environments.

Crafted For Comfort

Each one of our wool pillows is 100% handmade. All of the measurements, cuts, and sewing are done by hand at our Idaho base, which allows us to build an incredibly comfortable and durable pillow. We value quality over efficiency.

Woolshire pillows are made with materials sourced from the U.S., which allows us to tightly control over quality. The wool we use comes from the Northwest U.S. and our cotton is sourced from Texas. It all comes to Idaho where we make the pillow you’re sleeping on.

Common Questions

Are Wool Pillows Good For You?

Wool pillow, made the way they should be, are the healthiest pillows you can sleep on. Between being non-toxic and 100% natural there is no better option.

Do Wool Pillows Go Flat?

Wool will compress over the first month or more of using them. However, you can pick from our many fill options and size up if you're worried about your pillow not having enough support.

Can You Wash Wool Pillows?

Yes! We have an in-depth guide under "Wash & Care" on this page. Since wool is a natural material you do have to be careful when washing your pillow so as not to create unnecessary damage to the fibers.

Great pillow

"I'm a few nights of sleep in with this pillow, and am enjoying the feel of it and the rest I get when sleeping with it. I really appreciate this company's focus on responsibly-produced wool and offering a product that's healthy for humans to sleep with. Thank you!"

Mr

"I have 4 kids under 8 and every winter we battle ear and sinus infections almost monthly. I read about wool pillows being antimicrobial and decided to take the plung. I have an immune deficiency myself and amy extremely suceptible to sinus and ear infections. I'm thrilled to report that this exceeded my wildest dreams! While it was an expensive purchase for 6 pillows, the cost was just a little more than a trip to the doctors for ear infections for all three kids. We had no sinus or ear infections as long as everyone used their Woolshire pillow! I cannot recommend this product enough to folks with little kids (or just for your health. ) If polyester pillows were doing that to all of us, I can assure it's doing it to you and your family!"

I wanted to love this so bad. . .

"Quality is great, the packaging was beautiful and very thoughtful. I wanted so badly to love this product (esp after spending nearly $200 on one pillow). However, after 2 nights of sleeping on this my head, neck and jaw were so tight and uncomfortable. The pillow is extremely firm. Too firm for me."

Elida D. (3/5)

Great pillow

"This pillow is amazing!! I’ve struggled to find a pillow that supports my neck properly and is made of natural materials but this pillow covers both those problems!! The pillow is super soft and the medium fill is perfect for my needs!"

Finnegan L. (5/5)

Sleeping with a clean conscience and a clean pillow

"Thank you for making a quality item that is so comfortable! I’m ordering another for my husband. I love knowing my purchase supported an American, family owned company. I also love that your company allows my spending to align with my beliefs by providing a quality, chemical free product!"

Treva M. (5/5)

Best Pillow Ever

"The extra full pillow is simply the best. It’s supporting, always cold, and just wonderfully fluffy. I ordered the full and I needed more support and the team at Woolshire made it super easy for me to return and get the extra full. I tell everyone about it, the price is worth it!!"

Paul C. (5/5)

Counting Sheep

"My husband told me about these pillows and I left one hanging out in my cart for probably a month before I finally pulled the trigger. Am I glad I did! In the past I have struggled with pillows that are too firm or that go flat or that, in general, have me waking up feeling like my neck spent the night doing gymnastics. Not with this bad boy. Even the cotton cover made me think about foregoing a pillowcase! If you’re on the fence…just try it. Good people making an excellent product."

Holly B. (5/5)

Life

"I must say I was skeptical about buying a pillow but after purchasing several over the years I decided to give Woolshire a shot. So far the pillow is was worth the investment. I know I’m not resting my head on toxic chemicals or breathing in said toxic chemicals and I believe this wool pillow has enhanced my quality of sleep."

Brad G. (5/5)

Repeat customer

"Bought the medium for myself and love it as a side sleeper. I bought a second pillow (full) for my husband who is a side sleeper as well and replaced his current memory foam pillow from IKEA without asking. The next morning he told me that was the most comfortable pillow he’s ever slept on!"

Jessica O. (5/5)

So healthy! Gens X & Z Approved!

"Found The Woolshire upon hearing that a major congromerate was pulling out of purchasing a lot of Iowa Sheep. Wanted to support a company who supports local. Love them. Had our Godson test one on a recent visit. Went home with him! Now have to purchase one of his Bother, our other Godson! Great product!"
